Hattie Bergman

Hattie is excited to join the Fine Arts Department at Vandegrift High School. She has worked in Leander ISD for the past 8 years. Currently, she is teaching Theatre Arts at Stiles Middle School. Hattie has a BFA in Theatre from Memphis University. For years, she worked professionally as a costume designer at Theatre Memphis, as well as in the south Florida area. She started teaching high school theatre in Greenbrier, TN and continued producing theatre in Tipp City, Ohio with her children’s theatre, HAM it up! Productions. She loves bringing joy to the stage directing comedies and musicals such as You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Through the Looking Glass, and Nobody to Murder. She is also an enthusiastic competitor in UIL OAP. Hattie is passionate about education, fine arts, and creating success with students on and off the stage. It brings her much joy to see former students excel on stage and behind the scenes as they have moved on to high school and beyond. Hattie cares a great deal about building relationships with students, parents, feeder schools, colleagues, and the community and she has a great sense of humor. She cannot wait to contribute to the growth and development of the theatre program and its students at Vandegrift High School.

In her spare time, Hattie loves to read, hike and workout, watch baseball, shop and spend time with her husband, Ron and their children, Nathan and Aaron.

Aaron Johnson

Hi there! My name is Aaron Johnson, and I am thrilled to be the new Technical Theater Director for the Vandegrift High School Theater Company. This year marks the start of my 20th year as a high school theater arts director. I received by BFA with an emphasis in Acting from Southwestern University, class of 2004. Over the years my passion and knowledge has really grown for the technical aspect of theater arts, especially lighting, set design and construction, and sound design.

I can't wait to get to work with the incredible students and faculty at VHS. I believe any and all aspects of theater afford students the opportunity to create a sense of community and positive culture. I also believe in hard work, high expectations, and intrinsic motivation. It is my hope that any student that wants to can find their high school "home" in this department, where they will feel accepted and a sense of belonging.

I look forward to an incredibly fun, productive, and positive year!
